Treating Sinusitis

Acute sinusitis

Acute sinusitis can be treated with both oral and intranasal medicines

Chronic sinusitis

Chronic sinusitis may require surgery if drug therapy fails. Anatomical defects, such as a deviated nasal septum and narrow sinus opening, which prevent sinusitis from resolving, are the most common conditions that require surgery. The surgery can fix defects in the bone separating the nasal passages, remove nasal polyps, shrink the turbinates, and open closed passages. Sinus surgery is performed under either local or general anesthesia, and patients often return home on the same day.

Minimally Invasive Endoscopic Sinus Surgery

Endoscopic surgery treats advanced chronic sinusitis without the aftereffects of traditional sinus surgery. In addition, nasal packs are not used, allowing most patients to return to work in a few days. Endoscopic sinus surgery is characterized by the preservation of healthy nasal mucosa as much as possible.

Balloon Sinuplasty

This is a highly sophisticated technique in which balloons are used to enlarge the sinus drainage pathways without cutting any tissue. Compared to traditional surgery, most patients can return to work the next day without any evidence of the procedure.

Compared to traditional sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty offers a dramatically faster and more comfortable recovery. Because the procedure does not involve cutting, removing tissue, or placing stitches, most patients can return to work or normal activities as early as the next day, often with no visible signs that any procedure was performed. This makes it an ideal option for individuals seeking effective treatment without significant downtime.
